Sat. 23 Aug. 2025 - Sat. 6 Sep. 2025
14:00-19:00 (Close:Tues. and Fri.)
For my exhibition at CAS, I will develop a site-specific installation that responds directly to the architecture of the venue and its surrounding context. The work investigates how narratives are embedded in spatial structures and how built environments influence our perception. In my recent works, I explore how architecture conveys narratives: how it reflects political ideas, personal histories, and the character of the place in which it stands.
I am particularly drawn to transitional or in-between spaces, such as corridors, waiting rooms, construction sites, and train stations - that embody states of passage, ambiguity, and transformation. Often overlooked, these spaces function not only as physical connectors but also as metaphors for broader societal and personal shifts, reflecting the uncertainties and transitions of our global present.
During a one-month stay in Japan, I will study such spaces and translate their atmospheres into spatial constructions using simple materials. This process will culminate in a site-specific installation at CAS.
A central reference point is the Engawa—a traditional Japanese architectural element that mediates between inside and outside, public and private. In this context, it becomes a symbol for contemporary ambivalence: between digital and physical realities, visibility and privacy, local and global identities.
