Guratto

We are pleased to present Gratt, a group exhibition featuring works by HIRAKI Sora, YAMAZAKI Tatsuya, and YOSHIDA Takakage.

Though these three artists belong to the same generation, their creative approaches differ significantly, not only in intention but also in their choice of materials and mediums. In this exhibition, we use the Japanese onomatopoeic word "ぐらっと" (guratto) as a metaphorical crossroads in their artistic practices, uniting their distinct perspectives to construct a shared exhibition space.

Gratt captures those moments when fixed perceptions start to shift, like the dissonance between the reality before our eyes and the recognition within our minds. It emerges in the instant when materiality asserts itself, unsettling our stable understanding of objects.

This concept also reflects the precise moment when an object undergoes transformation, when the boundaries of form and meaning waver and blur. It includes the unpredictable forces that lie beyond an artist's control—raw materiality, randomness, and spontaneous phenomena.

We found that "ぐらっと" evokes a shared sensibility among us—a common thread that connects our varied practices. By embracing this shared theme, the three of us have come together to craft a dynamic, interactive exhibition space.

We look forward to the unexpected chemical reactions that may arise from the intersection of our diverse creative approaches.
