Condition Impossible
平衡を追求することは強迫的であるとともに、人間の実現不可能な欲望である。丸い地球の上に水平の線を引く行為自することができない念願である。それにもかかわらず、現在も水平線は物理的な調整によって、絶え間なく再生産されている。

そうして、私たちは心の平衡を切望する。人々は宗教に帰依し、神に不可能な克服を願ったり、瞑想とヨガや自虐的な苦行などを混濁した心や無秩序な心をアルコールや薬物で混乱を治めようとするが、これもまた人間が平衡を維持できない状態を、逆説的に表している。

作品“Stuffs”は作られているモノの平衡を計測する為の、あるいはそれを妨害するための道具である。私はそうした計測ツールを作成する専門家ではなく、それが「サブリミナル」なオブジェであるため構造は不合理であり少しギクシャクしている。しかし作品が不合理であることは、非論理的な人間性を反映することであり、そのことで人工的であることの欠陥を受け入れ、人間の不完全さを受容できるということを意図している。
