ID BOUTIQUE
'ID Boutique' is a Japanese artist group who explore individual identity and personal independence through couture. The name derives from the abbreviation ID, standing for identification, as in ID card, and Id, the psycho-analytic term referring to the basic instincts necessary for self-preservation.
In 1994, Mutsuyo and Junichi KUSAKA exhibited three projects - Food, Clothing and Shelter - at international large group show entitled - Of the Human Condition - (Spiral/Wacoal Art Center, Tokyo). They began to make clothes art work by this chance. In 1995, they formed 'ID Boutique' with Yoku SASAKI and other apparel designers.
